The University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) has commemorated a significant milestone as its 8th Chief Medical Director, Prof. Chituru Orluwene, marked his first 100 days in office with a solemn thanksgiving service held at the hospital chapel.
The event brought together members of the hospital’s management team, staff, and well-wishers in an atmosphere of gratitude, reflection, and renewed commitment to service. The gathering served not only as a celebration of progress made so far but also as a moment to dedicate the journey ahead to God.

In his address, Prof. Orluwene expressed deep appreciation for divine grace and guidance throughout his first 100 days in office. He acknowledged the role of faith in leadership and emphasized the importance of continued reliance on God for wisdom and direction in steering the affairs of the institution.
He also extended his sincere gratitude to Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, for the trust and opportunity to serve as Chief Medical Director of UPTH. According to him, this responsibility is both an honor and a call to deliver impactful leadership in advancing the hospital’s mandate.
Highlighting his administration’s vision, Prof. Orluwene reiterated a strong commitment to enhancing healthcare delivery, improving staff welfare, driving infrastructural development, and promoting institutional excellence. He noted that these focus areas will remain central to his leadership agenda as UPTH continues to strengthen its role as a leading healthcare institution in Nigeria.

The thanksgiving service concluded with prayers for sustained progress, unity among staff, and a purposeful tenure marked by measurable achievements and positive transformation.
As UPTH moves forward under this renewed leadership, the milestone signals not just a reflection on the past 100 days, but a bold step toward a future defined by excellence, innovation, and service to humanity
