MEDIA & PUBLICITY UNIT

The Public Relations unit started towards the tail end of the tenure of Chief Dr. Osobonye LongJohn with the interview and appointment of a professional in the person of Mr. Paul Jaja. He was replaced by an Administrator in the person of Mr. Inhunwo during the first tenure of Chief Dr. Eric Mangete. On assumption of office by Dr. Uriah Etawo and later Late Chief FT Abbey as Director of Administration, the unit was split into two with the appointment of Mr. Godfellow Opusunju as Public Relations officer, Media&Publicity, and Mr. Georgewill Orji as Public Relations officer, Protocol.

On the death of the Late Opusunju during the tenure of Amaomu Jumbo as DA, Akie Opuene Hart took over as PRO, Media, and Publicity.

There was also another Change of baton, as Mrs. Boma Thom- Manuel took over from Mr. Orji, and towards the tail end of the Administration of Prof. Ojule, an interview was conducted which led to the consolidation of the two positions and the appointment of Mr Kem Daniel Elebiga in 2015.

The emergence of this administration and appointment of the acting PRO, Elabha A Meni in February 14, 2019 sparked off the revolutionalization of the Hospital’s Media/Publicity unit.

Prior to the current administration, the unit had about six (6) staff members and this affected information gathering/dissemination in a hospital environment with over forty departments.

The unit is adequately staffed presently thereby effectively managing the Media/Publicity concerns of the hospital
