 UPTH management empowers neurosurgery

The Management of Professor Henry A. Ugboma, Chief Medical director university of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital delivered a complete sets of neurosurgical equipment to the leadership of the neurosurgery.

Delivering the equipment on behalf of the hospital’s management was the chairman medical advisory committee, Prof Datonye Alasia, who stated that management seeking to maintain global best practice in training, research and advanced patient care had procured the equipment to better arm the neurosurgeons for expert care

Prof. Eghurudjakpor Patrick, a consultant neurosurgeon, elated by the feat achieved by management in procuring the neurosurgery equipment said his team had anticipated it for decades of years waiting, which appreciates God and the management of the hospital. Relating with the excitement of receiving the intervention of management, Dr. Uchenna Ajoku listed the equipment being received to include – High speed drill system/craniotomy, Diatemy unit, multi-perimeter patient monitor, spine instrument set etc. which he says are very essential neurosurgical equipment.

The equipment according to the surgeons is primed to aid neurosurgical operations, such that in minutes the human skull can be penetrated for corrective surgical intervention .

The management led by the chief medical director, Prof. Henry A. Ugboma had in recent time made substantial intervention with the procurement of Dialysis equipment for Nephrology division in medicine, Analgesic equipment for Anaesthesiology and most recently the procurement for neurosurgery division of the surgery department.
