 UNIVERSITY OF PORT HARCOURT TEACHING HOSPITAL, RIVERS STATE POLICE COMMAND PLEDGES INCREASED COOPERATION.

In a renewed effort to strengthen collaboration for enhanced safety and security of lives and property, the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital (UPTH) and the Rivers State Police Command have resolved to deepen their partnership and mutual support as federal government institutions operating in Rivers State.

The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of UPTH, Chituru Orluwene, made this commitment during a courtesy visit by the hospital’s management team to the Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, at the State Police Command headquarters on Moscow Road, Port Harcourt.

Professor Orluwene described the visit as an opportunity to further familiarize and strengthen ties between the two institutions. He commended the Commissioner of Police for his professionalism and assured him that all areas of concern encountered in the course of their duties would be handled strictly in accordance with the law.

He emphasized the hospital’s commitment to proper protocols, particularly in the treatment of gunshot victims and other sensitive cases that may require police involvement.

In his response, Commissioner Adepoju congratulated Professor Orluwene on his recent appointment and reaffirmed the Police Command’s readiness to collaborate with UPTH to ensure both institutions effectively deliver on their service mandates.

The Commissioner welcomed the CMD’s assurance regarding established procedures for handling gunshot victims, individuals brought in from crime scenes, and the management of deceased persons. He also pledged to maintain an open-door policy to encourage continuous engagement and prompt resolution of sensitive issues.
