Describing the initiative as transformative for healthcare delivery, Prof. Orluwene emphasized that access to reliable and sustainable power will significantly enhance clinical services, medical research, and the training of healthcare professionals at UPTH.

He noted that uninterrupted electricity is critical to the effective operation of life-saving equipment, laboratories, surgical theatres, and other essential hospital facilities. Prof. Orluwene further commended the Federal Ministry of Finance for addressing previous bottlenecks and providing the necessary funding assurances to facilitate the project. He described the development as a major milestone that aligns with the Federal Governmentβs Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly in advancing healthcare infrastructure and sustainability.
The connection of UPTH to the Hybrid Solar Farm represents a strategic investment in energy reliability, institutional growth, and improved healthcare outcomes for the people of Rivers State and beyond.

UPTH remains committed to leveraging this development to enhance service delivery, promote innovation in medical practice, and uphold its mandate as a leading tertiary healthcare institution in Nigeria.
