DIETETICS DEPARTMENT

Dietetics department gives dietary counseling to patients/clients with different non-communicable diseases, plans and supervises the preparation of therapeutic diet for individuals or groups in hospitals, institutions, gives instruction on selection and proper preparation of food according to Dietetics principles and performs duties
related to Nutrition programs.

A Dietitian is a professional medical/health officer with legally recognized
qualification in Nutrition and Dietetics, who apply the science of Nutrition to the feeding and education of groups of people and individuals in health and diseases.

WHO ARE OUR CLIENTS?

Patients with diet related disease conditions e.g., Cardiovascular diseases,
Diabetes, Renal diseases, osteoporosis, gastric, allergic condition etc., People
suffering from malnutrition (Underweight, overweight, obesity, severe acute
malnutrition etc.), eating disorders (Anorexia, bulimia nervosa etc.), care of
Elderly persons, children with special needs and Persons apparently well but wants
to live healthy.

ACCREDITATION STATUS:
The department is fully accredited by her
national body, Dietitians Association of Nigeria (DAN).

QUALIFICATION:
-M.Sc. Public Health Nutrition
-Registered Dietitian-Nutritionist (RDN)
-B.Sc. Nutrition and Dietetics

COMPOSITION OF PERSONNEL AND STAFF STRENGHT:
The department has a total number of personnel’s;
Dietitians, Nutritionists, Catering officers, administrative staff.

AVAILABLE EQUIPMENTS
– Anthropometric equipment’s (weighing scales, stadiometers, etc.)
– Cooking equipment’s (industrial cookers, oven, freezers, chillers etc.)
– Kitchen utensils
– Etc.

CLINIC DAYS AND TIME
-Cardiology clinic- Tuesday 9.00am
-Endocrinology clinic-Wednesday 9.00am
-Pediatrics/Nutrition clinic- Monday/Tuesdays 9.00am
-Antenatal clinic- Daily 9.00am
-Renal clinic- Thursdays 9.00am
-Out-Patient consultations- Monday- Friday 8.00am-4.00pm
-Inpatient consultation- Daily (Monday-Sunday)
