 UPTH: ASCAF inaugurates LOC

The need for medical teachers and professors of medicine to run minds about latest findings in medical research, expand the frontier of knowledge and also improve on the treatment of patients were the hope of the President of the national postgraduate medical college, Prof. Akin Osibogun FMCPH,PNMC.

He stated this during the formal inauguration of the local organizing committee ( LOC) for the 18th All scientific conference of the All fellows ASCAF 2024, in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital.

The inauguration which took place in the boardroom of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital UPTH, witnessed the presence of management staff led by the chief medical director Prof. Henry Ugboma ably represented by the chairman medical advisory Committee CMAC, Prof Datonye Alasia.

The registrar of the college, Prof. Fatiu Anagundade says the college was established by the national college act, decree 47, of September 24th 1979. The college was set up as the Apex medical institution for post graduate medical training in Nigeria, aimed at supporting continued medical education which the annual scientific conference of all fellow ASCAF has continued to further.

Anagundade says the member of the LOC ASCAF conference 2024, has Prof. Christie Mato as chairman, Prof. Rosemary Ogu as vice chairman, Prof. Olufemi Olutayo as Secretary, Dr. I.S Musa as assistant secretary. Dr. Sam Tobi-West as transport committee, Dr. Pedro Emem- Chioma as information and publicity committee amongst others.

The chairman of the LOC, Prof Christie Mato on behalf of other members, gave the promise that the conference will be a huge success.

Prof. Christie Mato is deputy vice Chancellor administration PAMO University, chief medical director PAMO University Teaching Hospital, past provost of college of health sciences University of Port Harcourt, past chairman medical advisory Committee ( CMAC) University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.

While thanking the college for using UPTH, Prof. Datonye is convinced that the conference would be a memorable one in 2024, based on the caliber of persons in the Local organizing committee.
