Chief Medical Director (CMD), University of Port Harcourt Teaching hospital, Professor Henry A.A. Ugboma and the Hospital Management Committee (HMC) made a working visit to the Vice Chancellor of University of Port Harcourt , Professor Owunari Georgewill to articulate affiliation on academic and clinical training programs.
One of which is the provision of curriculum of studies and requisite documentation from both institution for affiliation on Bachelor of science (B.Sc) and Masters (M.Sc) degree in Nursing which was top of discussion in the vice chancellor’s office
Professor Owunari, who was delighted to receive the management team of the hospital said he had directed the Director of Academic Programs in the University to follow up on the hospital’s request letter on affiliation. He said the University is expecting the hospital to make available the nursing education staff distribution, detailed curriculum (courses), which will then be transmitted to the National University Commission (NUC) for approval, thereafter a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate the start up of the academic program will be signed.
Other issues that will be mutually beneficial and binding on the integrity of the University and the teaching hospital were further discussed so as to further improve academic, clinical and public services.
Members of HMC who accompanied the CMD were, the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, Professor D . Alasia, DCMACs; Prof. O.B. Braimah, Prof. Altraide, Prof. T. Jaja, Dr. Eneh Nkoyo, Head of Establishment, Mrs Rose James, Surveyor Mr Achebe and the Public Relations Officer Ms. Elabha Meni.
