The Management of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital has promised to ensure that its School of Health Information Management is well positioned to deliver on its mandate of manpower training. Chief Medical Director Professor Henry A. A. Ugboma made the promise while receiving a delegation from the National Board of Technical Education, who were on an Accreditation visit to the school of Health Information Management. Professor Ugboma assured the accreditation team that Management will look critically into issues of concern and addressed such accordingly. He however blamed inadequate funding and competing needs, as major challenges confronting the hospital’s quest for quality healthcare delivery services. Earlier, the leader of the accreditation team Barrister Nwami O. B. Jerry explained that accreditation exercise arc for the good of the institution and those the train because the quality of facilities and those they train reflects in the way and manner they respond to challenges. Barrister Jerry also disclosed that the findings of the team will be disconnected in a final report for onward submission to the board. The coordinator of the school Mrs. Patience Amadi later conducted the team on a tour of the various arms that make up the school alongside other officials. Amongst the Management team were the Acting Director of Administration the three Deputies of the Medical Advisory Committee Dr. Ocheli, Dr. Oko JaJa and Dr.(Mrs) Onyia.
