CMDA Marks 50th Anniversary with Donations

As part of activity to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Christian Medical and Dental Association (CMDA), the Rivers State Chapter of the association donated a phototherapy machine and 20 pieces of bedsheets to the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital.

Making the donation, the chairman of the Rivers State Chapter and Consultant Peadiatrician at the Rivers State University Teaching Hospital, Dr. Woroma Wonodi said the association is known for practicing medicine according to the way and manner of Christ and caring for the whole man (the spirit, soul and body). According to the chairman, “We don’t just practice medicine; we also practice with compassion and competence. We need to care, show empathy and practice the profession in a way that brings glory to God.” Dr. Woroma said the donation was tagged “The Touch of Christ.”

She explained that these were CMDA’s contribution to UPTH for the management of patients. The members of the association prayed that with the use of the equipment and materials, Christ will touch the patients and bring about total healing to their spirit, soul and body.

Receiving the donation on behalf of the management of University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital was the Chief Medical Director, Prof. Henry Ugboma, ably represented by the Chairman Medical Advisory Committee, Prof. Lucky Onotai who said the hospital is grateful for the association’s choice of UPTH. Prof. Onotai commended the association for the items–considering the times the country was in, he also assured them of proper usage of the equipment and bedsheets.

Also speaking on behalf of management, the Director of Administration Ms. Erebi Wadiri thanked the association for using their lean resources in getting the equipment for the benefit of mankind and she sought the association’s collaboration in advising public servants to be alive to their job.

The Christian Medical and Dental Association was birthed in 1952 comprising of Medical Students, medical doctors and dentists with the motive of treating patients with the love of Christ.
