Management of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital is to look into request made by the Department of Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) in order to boost their level of service delivery. Chief Medical Director Professor Henry A. A. Ugboma made the promise when he met with the staff of the ENT Department to familiarize himself with the workings and personnel of the department. Professor Ugboma who promised to ensure full accreditation in the next exercise, however tasked staff to embark on early preparations, while request for additional nursing personnel will be addressed. He promised Management’s support towards the successful hosting of the next Oto-Rhino-Larynological Society of Nigeria (ORLSON) 26th Conference billed to hold in November. Earlier, the Head of Department Dr. Onotai explained the challenges confronting service delivery including lack of equipments and the resultant loss of accreditation. Dr, Onotai however assured that the department is capable of generating a reasonable level of revenue for the hospital if needed personal and equipments are in place. Similarly, the senior member of the delegation Professor Dalili Tariah, disclosed that ENT department has been doing well in the area of training. He however called for adequate capital investments due to tech equipments required, adding that such a move will go a long way in boosting the chances of earning accreditation points due to the scores attached to such equipment where found.
