The Management of the University of Port Harcourt Teaching have appealed to philanthropist, Non-Governmental organisation, faith-based groups as well as meaning individuals to extended their hands of fellowship to towards addressing the hospital’s areas of needs.
Chief Medical Director Prof. Henry A. A. Ugboma made the appeal when he played host to a four-person delegation from U.S –based Kalabari National Association who came to make donations to the hospital.
Prof. Ugboma while receiving the donations on behalf of Management, expressed gratitude for the act of benevolence by the U.S based group.
He urged similar groups elsewhere to borrow a leaf and support government healthcare institutions by complementing their public service efforts.
The CMD assured the donors that the items will be judiciously used to serve members of the public especially the indigent ones.
Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Dr. Sobomabo Lawson explained that their donation was on humanitarian grounds, because it is targeted at public health institutions and the less privilege members of the society.
Dr. Lawson, who commended the Prof. Ugboma-led Management for their commitment to service delivery, disclosed that the items donated included drugs, medical supplies as well as syringes.
The Delegation which comprised of Dr. (Mrs.) Lawson, Mrs. Sukie Abiye-Suku and Mrs. Catherine Soberekon was accompanied on the tour by Prof. Princewill Stanley, Dr. Ochelli Emmanuel and Dr. (Mrs.) Onyia.
